There's no escaping the phenomenon that is Pokemon Go, an augmented reality game that has consumed the lives of millions of people worldwide. Whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny the enormity of it's social reach. Those who are uneasy participants in the "real world" have found a community of like minded people to bond with, while others have used the "hunt" for Pokemon as a catalyst to get off the couch and move. Since it's release a mere two weeks ago, some forward thinking players all over the country have found a multitude of ways to play the game and simultaneously give back to their communities, including right here in Central Maryland.
This Sunday, July 24th, Mark Russo Creations, an art and graphic design company located in Howard County, will be hosting a free Pokemon Go event in Historic Ellicott City. The catch? Bring your trash bags and clean up the town while you catch Zubats and Ratattas.
So, if you're looking for something to entertain the kids and give back to your community (not to mention, rack up those steps on your Fitbit), grab some gloves and join the cause. Let's help keep Maryland beautiful!
